The main objective of the project called “We invest in green Żary” is (according to SZOOP POIiŚ 2014-2020) to halt the decline of green areas in Żara commune with urban status. This objective will be achieved through the following specific objectives: — increasing the biologically active area and expanding the system of green areas, ordering green areas – the project will create 10.5997 ha of new green spaces and order 2.1493 hectares of old green areas, – preserving biodiversity – e.g. through actions supporting the maintenance of the existing ecosystem, making new plantings conducive to biodiversity, – reducing the amount of harmful pollutants in the air – newly planted and structured vegetation will purify air from dust and gases, while, as air synthesis improves the composition of airborne oxygen by absorbing oxygen. In addition, vegetation will not only clear the air from toxic gases and dust, but will also enrich it with volatile substances that are bactericidal, stimulating the process of breathing and circulation and regulating the nervous system of people (improving the health of residents).
