Modernisation of the railway line E 59 on the Wrocław – Poznań section, stage III, section Czempiń – Poznań – Phase II

The project includes the modernisation of the railway line E 59 Wrocław – Poznań, on the Czempiń-Poznañ section with a length of 32 km. The aim of the project is to improve and increase the use of passenger and freight rail transport on the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) and to improve the environment surrounding the E -59 rail line. The implementation of the project was divided into: • Phase I – works/services planned to be performed under the OPI 2007-2013 • Phase II – works/services planned to be performed under the OPI 2014-2020. This project will be implemented under priority axis VII – ‘Environmental transport’, the main objective of which is ‘Increasing the contribution of environmentally friendly modes of transport to the general transport of passengers and freight’. The project is located in the Wielkopolska Voivodship within the following powiats: Kościański County, Poznań County. Line E 59 on the Wrocław-Poznañ section is part of the state’s basic rail network, forming part of the TEN-T corridor. The project is included in the document “Master Plan for Rail Transport in Poland until 2030” (August 2008) and falls under the priority ‘improvement of passenger and cargo transport services in the corridors of the trans-European transport network (TEN-T)’.
