The origin of the project stems from the need to protect, preserve, digitise and further disseminate through a publicly accessible platform valuable archival resources of unique scientific, cultural and historical significance, which include:-Archive of the Archdiocese of Lviv (the so-called Archdiocese of Lviv). Archbishop Eugeniusz Baziak (Act of Visitation of Bishops, Consistory Acts of the Old Polish Period and XIX/XX c.; Files of selected parishes, Metric Acts, Indexes to Consistory Acts 1634-1859)-Archiwum Metropolitan Curia in Krakow (Acta officialia, Acta Episcopalia, Metric Acts, Administratolia, Gratiosa, Liber Ordinationum, Visits dean)-Archive of the Bielsko-Żywiec Diocese (Metric Acts). From the surveys conducted and the very high interest of the scientific and research community, the project “Sacral Heritage of Małopolska”, implemented by UPJP II from the funds of RPO WM, shows that there is a very high demand for digital access to objects representing scientific heritage and historical resources, including as material for genealogical research. Due to the analog form of this resource and in many cases the poor state of behaviour, requiring conservation work, access to it is very limited. The above resources of science are of great importance for research on Polish heritage in Poland and abroad in the dimensions of historical, historical, artistic, genealogical, anthropological, cultural and geographical research. Their wide availability will contribute to the development of research in the field of historical sciences and ancillary sciences of history, in many scientific centres in Poland. The project will make it possible to obtain efficient, effective and cost-free access to the unique resources of the Archdiocese of Krakow and the Archdiocese of Lviv for final recipients and will increase the security of stored archival documents for subsequent generations.
