University of Seniors – innovative approach in adult education

The project is a response to demographic changes, linked to the dynamic increase in the number of 60+ people and the need to activate this group in the field of education, broadening knowledge, gaining useful skills, counteracting social exclusion of seniors and the phenomena related to ageism (discrimination of older people). Development has an impact on the better functioning of older people in the modern world and thus their satisfaction with life and their efforts to build positive senior vision and good relations with the environment, including intergenerational cooperation. As part of the project, the project will develop programmes, methodological manuals and lesson scenarios with annexes to the implementation of educational activities developing competences of 60+ people, in the field of key competences (informatic, language, learning and social and civic). Based on the programmes and scenarios developed, UTW UWr classes will be conducted during the year ak. 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 will be attended by 300 people. Support in the form of training will be provided by adults, trainers, conducting classes in UTW cooperating with UTW UWr, as well as those who want to improve their qualifications or acquire new ones, in terms of working with the elderly. The trainings will be attended by 208 people.Cooperation with the UTW in Poland and support of institutions in the form of expert consultations and prepared methodological materials are expected.Realised actions contribute to building social capital and active and satisfying participation of seniors in the life of local communities.
