Multimod – In vivo Design and Evaluation of New Multimodal Imaging Agents

The MULTIMOD project seeks to develop and validate new multimodal and theranostic imaging agents to meet specific clinical needs: diagnosis and therapy of cancers, diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease or atherosclerosis. With skills and know-how acquired through many projects (3MIM, PARI program, Equipex IMAPPI, ANR, H2020), the ICMUB has become a major player in the field of molecular imaging. Its expertise is essential to the development of these new agents combining different imaging techniques (optical, nuclear, MRI, Cherenkov). With the help of its academic and private partners, in an extremely favorable local context (GIE Pharmimage and GIS “Pharmacoimaging”), the techniques necessary for the complex stages of such studies (synthesis, radiochemistry, in vitro studies, in vivo imaging) are grouped in order to carry out this ambitious project. The steps will consist of i- designing and synthesising optimised probes, ii- combining them with selected biological vectors, iii-performing biological and preclinical studies in order to evaluate the effectiveness of these agents on specific pathologies. The MULTIMOD project will have a strong economic and societal impact, reinforcing the BFC site’s leadership in the field of molecular imaging, developing opportunities for collaboration/partnership, and, ultimately, bringing new solutions in personalised medicine.
